VGP Video Games Plus Shared a De Minimis Exemption Update

Video Games Plus (VGP), a Canadian store known for selling  games, accessories, peripherals, and limited run releases, took to social media to confirm it will continue selling to people in the US even with President Donald Trump ending De Minimis Exemption via an executive order and inflicting tariffs. However, the company did note that packages will be delayed as a result of the new process.

The statement from VGP went over prices, shipping, the new duties and taxes due to tariffs, and delays on shipments of games bought from the store. The company noted that the prices on site are “stable,” but “are subject to change at any moment.” It also noted that if someone made an order when a certain cost was showing, it would honor that price. It also said it will “manage all tariff costs” and that at the moment the store doesn’t “anticipate that US customers will face any extra charges on their orders.” However, the notice did say that could change too. As for shipments, it said delays will happen and could be “at least one day.” It also hopes to ship from within the US in the future for US customers.

Here’s the full statement from X.

While VGP is continuing to sell games and accessories to the US as usual, a number of other stores temporarily suspended shipments as a result of Trump ending De Minimis Exemption on packages under $800. Among them are Tokyo Otaku Mode, Hobby Link Japan, and Good Smile Company. Since Japan Post and DHL also suspended service in general, that means other retailers also may be unable to ship during this period.

The De Minimis Exemption ends on August 29, 2025.
